FAQs

What is digital art? Do you use AI or special apps that transform photos into art?

I use an iPad and Apple pencil to draw the portraits. I do not use any sort of AI.
The benefit of drawing digitally is that once the painting is complete it is easy to save the art as a digital file for sending to you for approval. Because of the way you can paint on different ‘layers’ in the painting tool (Procreate), I can also easily try out different colours/textures for the background to see what works best and to give you a choice.

Why does it cost so much for mugs, cushions, phone cases etc?

Each item has a specially drawn portrait on it which takes me 2-3 days to complete. The list price includes the fee for the artwork as well as the cost of the physical product and packaging.
I do offer discounts for follow-up products using a previously purchased portrait. Contact me at orders@emilyspetportraits.com to enquire about this.

How do I decide which size artwork to purchase?

See the size guide chart on the product page for an indication of how big or small the artwork might look on the wall.

What’s the difference between eco-canvas and stretched canvas?

Both are great options and will look beautiful on your wall. The eco-canvas is made from 100% recycled bottles, and has a different backing structure. The regular canvas has a rougher fabric texture and a wooden frame backing whereas the eco-canvas is quite smooth and has a recycled plastic easy-hang backing. See product pictures for a better idea!

What’s the difference between the classic frame and the box frame?

Both frames are guaranteed to set off your pet portrait beautifully. The box frame is a deeper frame (33mm) and made from solid ash, hand stained and finished with a specialist wax to accentuate the grain. The classic frame is also solid wood with a satin finish, and is a 22mm depth from the wall.

How many pets can be included in one artwork?

I can include up to 4 pets on one artwork. If you would like more than 4 animals, that’s possible - please email me at orders@emilyspetportraits.com and I’ll send you a quote.

What kind of photo should I provide?

A good quality photo that shows your pets face clearly will work best, preferably natural lighting, but please feel free to email me your photo to orders@emilyspetportraits.com, and I will let you know if it’s suitable. See photo guide.

Which pets can you turn into art?

I haven’t yet come across an animal I can’t turn into a beautiful artwork, and i do love a challenge. The most common pets I draw are cats and dogs, but I have also been asked to do snakes, sheep and even a trilobite! You will see from my original art that I like to draw wild animals as well as domestic ones! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have something more unusual in mind!

How do I know i’ll be happy with the artwork?

A proof will be emailed to you before the artwork is finalised, and you will be allowed to request changes or adjustments. There is also an option to pay 50% upfront, and the balance once you are happy with the artwork, which may give customers some peace of mind, as you won’t be charged the balance if you decide you are not happy with the artwork.

How many revisions are included in the cost after the first artwork proof is provided?

You get unlimited revisions. However if you decide you want me to start over or use a different reference photo I will need to charge you an extra €25 (or the equivalent in your currency).

How long will it take for my artwork to be made?

I will email you an artwork proof to approve within 2-3 days. Once you have approved your artwork, the item will be shipped in about 2-5 days, and delivery times tend to be between 2-10 working days, depending on your location.

What countries do you ship to and how long does it take?

I can ship to the USA, EU, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan. Depending on which delivery option you choose, orders may take between 2-10 working days to arrive. You will receive an email with the tracking info once your artwork is shipped. Please inform me if you need your order by a specific date and I will do my best to prioritise it.

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop pay.

Will my framed artwork arrive safely?

Absolutely, the artworks are packaged very well to avoid any breakage. However, if your artwork arrives damaged (which hasn't happened yet!), please email me photos of the damage and I will arrange for a replacement.

Will you showcase my pet's art on your website and social media pages?

I love to show off my clients’ gorgeous pets, so I do share the artworks in my ‘Pawtrait Gallery’, and I also share a speedpaint/timelapse video of the artwork creation on my social media. If you'd prefer me not to share your pet’s portrait, please let me know and I will refrain from sharing your artwork online. Further, if the artwork is a gift, please let me know and I will wait until they have received their gift before sharing online.
